Barack Obama Re-Elected President

President Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan.

NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you."

The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. The race was filled with negative campaigning on both sides, from President Obama attacking Romney’s business experience with Bain Capital to Romney lambasting Obama’s handling of the economy.

The race tightened during the final months of the campaign, with gaffes and surges from both candidates. After a weak performance after the Republican Convention, Romney surged following Obama’s listless performance after the first presidential debate. Nevertheless, the president cemented a lead in battleground states heading into Tuesday’s election.

Obama four years ago carried Connecticut 60 to 38 percent over John McCain. The president also carried Connecticut in 2012, winning 55 to 44 percent as of reporting at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Obama’s performance in Connecticut wasn't necessarily surprising, considering that constituents here have voted for the Democratic candidate in recent presidential elections.

Whatever the argument, the fact is that the base of the Republican Party has moved far to the right of moderate. This forces Republican candidates seeking Party nomination to “court the crazies” if they want to get into the game. Then they must navigate the difficult road back to reasonable while not upsetting their volatile and fanatical base to have any chance of winning in a general election. Both McCain and Romney were reasonable and generally acceptable candidates, but when forced to take the perilous route to nomination, they lost much of what made them contenders. Most AMERICANS both Democrat and Republican tend to make common sense decisions when supporting a candidate. Though having a D or an R next to one’s name will have influence on the average reasonable party member, the responsible and patriotic AMERICAN voter will do what they feel is right for the country or in some cases what’s a little less wrong. Look at the quality of a “weak” moderate like Romney next to the "strong" real Republicans like Akin and Mourdock. In this case the Party misrepresented the candidate and now blames the candidate for the disservice.

Actually fake person calling themselves "Luca"...what the country decided on Tuesday...is that we as a nation, are sick of your chicken little BS. You are officially, dismissed...angry old white men. thank you for your service. now enjoy your remaining years fishing, or eating ice cream with the grandkids...or whatever retirees used to do before FOX NEWS made them a target audience. Rest, Luca. We'll take it from here.

"They" not mad, C.S. They're sad. Sad of what America will become in four short years. Sad that there will be less folks going to work with dreams of doing better. Why dream to do better or to be great when all that will happen is that someone like Never on this blog will berate them for wanting to have a $400 bottle of wine..... (Guess the wine makers should also stop making $400 bottles of wine....that's a few layoffs right there.) While we're at it, maybe Never will next think that the neighbor that paid $1,000 for leather seats in his Honda should've bought plastic seats, and so on, and so on. Pretty sad....

Romney lost because he was too moderate, he needed a Dick Cheney - Spiro Agnew type running mate, he was too sissified. So say the Sarah Palin crowd, Geniuses! According to one Tea Party leader, the reason for Mitt Romney’s loss to President Barack Obama is that he was not conservative enough and was “weak-kneed” and a throwback to Bob Dole and John McCain... In a press statement, entitled “Tea Party Vows "No Retreat" and a subtitle “Promise to search out candidates with clear conservative records; no more Dole-McCain-Romney nominees”, the group leaders said the following: A group Leaders of the Tea Party News Network (TPNN) and TheTeaParty.net offered an unflinching assessment of Election Day results. Todd Cefaratti, editor of the Tea Party News Network said, "We're disappointed in Governor Romney's loss. But this goes to the heart of what we have been saying all along. Bob Dole didn't win. John McCain didn't win. And now Mitt Romney hasn't won. The lesson the GOP and Americans need to learn is that weak-kneed Republicans do not get elected. Conservatives do."

Luca said, "Your sanctimonious fake caring of people is twisted in your hate of rich. " Oh now your argument is that people like me who care about the poor and disadvantaged, we're bad people. Do you ever stop to think about the things you post?
Never November 08, 2012 at 11:14 PM
Do people actually find meaning in their lives by getting the leather seats instead of the plastic seats? Now that's sad. There are so many know-it-alls on internet forums, but when you pull back the covers, you find that in the real world, they are dog catchers or sell ink cartridges or whatever. Do they really expect us to take their views on economics, politics, business success, whatever.... seriously? Haha.
sebastian dangerfield November 08, 2012 at 11:19 PM
Never Nope. I dont believe you care about others. If you did--then youd be happy for the waiter who got paid 80 bucks for opening a bottle of wine, rather than seething about the guy who bought it. But you of course decided to miss the rest of the post. We do not import West Texas Int --do you agree? If USA oil companies stopped , not at 10, but at 12---that makes your 4 dollar a barrel argument even less credible. You want to admit to this? Or do you want to continue showing me that you are not a genuine person, capable of expressing a desire to reach the truth?
sebastian dangerfield November 08, 2012 at 11:22 PM
how does 'fake caring' get misinterpreted to mean , i dont like you because you care? I dont get it. Again--is this you trying to be dumb? Or are you? if i say you fake care--it means i dont believe you care. How can you understand it any other way?

http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2012/11/07/the-special-interests-won-again/ EXCERPT: In my opinion, Obama won for two reasons: (1) Obama is non-threatening and inclusive, whereas Romney exuded a “us vs. them” impression that many found threatening, and (2) the election was not close enough for the electronic voting machines to steal. ...What is curious is that voters don’t understand how politics really works. They get carried away with the political rhetoric and do not see the hypocrisy that is staring them in the face. Proud patriotic macho American men voted for Romney who went to Israel and, swearing allegiance to his liege lord, groveled at the feet of Netanyahu. Obama plays on the heart strings of his supporters by relating a story of a child with leukemia now protected by Obamacare, while he continues to murder thousands of children and their parents with drones and other military actions in seven countries. Obama was able to elicit cheers from supporters as he described the onward and upward path of America toward greater moral accomplishments, while his actual record is that of a tyrant who codified into law the destruction of the US Constitution and the civil liberties of the American people. The election was about nothing except who gets to serve the interest groups. END EXCERPT

$80 to open a bottle of wine? I thought you weren't supposed to tip for the alcohol portion on the bill? Maybe all the waiters turned republican economic professors on this forum could weigh in on this important topic. Finally something they know about. By the way, I didn't comment anymore about your inane $10 rant because you made the mistake, not me. I said the cost to get a $20 bbl of oil to a refinery door is $4, and therefore there is still profit to be made by OPEC All correct. You then made some irrelevant statements about North Sea oil. I'm afraid you'll have to live with your errors. I don't want to be dragged into it. I will mention one thing though, I checked with the guy at Irving Gas. He'll sell you his barrel filled with cruddy used motor oil for $10. You could buy it and then claim that oil here in the USA is now trading at 10 bucks a barrel. It might add credibility to your argument.

I like what Never is saying, sure most of you will try to spin it off as though he (or she) is an uneducated democrat, but when you really look at what he says he makes a lot of sense, but you will not admit to that. All you Obama haters on here better realize and know that Romney would not have given even his morning constitutional about any of you of your well-being, but Obama will. Hey Never sorry I kept saying he just in case you are a lady.
When Harry Met Silly November 09, 2012 at 01:24 AM
I can't believe the Romney camp is still playing their games. Today a senior adviser spoke about Romney losing Florida: "The numbers in Florida show this was winnable." What the hey? You lost Florida and this shows it was winnable? Will they ever give it a rest and face reality?

Never, So when is it enough? How much of what you and I and the rest is enough to pay? What should the tax rate be? Break it down for all of us. I am going out on a limb to assume that you and your family live in a house, so don't you feel greedy for that when so many can't own a home with unemployment being what it is?
Big Family November 09, 2012 at 01:43 AM
Never, What is the sq footage of that fair house that is acceptible? Who will decide on just how much income is too much? Will we have an income and housing Czar or some sort of panel? Please break it down for us.

Never says they are dog catchers or sell ink cartridges or whatever. Do they really expect us to take their views on economics, politics, business success, whatever.... seriously? Perfect! So this is a person that doesnt like the "1%" -but also disrespects the 99%. After all, if you are a dog catcher, you have no idea about anything, according to this person. Is there anyone you respect. I mean other than yourself? And thanks once again for proving me correct. People like you, that scream for integrity, demonstrate none of it. For the record, I said nothing about North Sea oil etc.... I got it correct--you got it wrong--you do not import West Texas Crude. The price of oil is not limited to the factors that you site. You make the mistake of portraying all rich people as pompous asses, but I am 100% sure , everyone on this blog has met many nice people who are successful. Stereotypes, wrong data, an inability to admit error, and a disrespect of dog catchers, ink sellers , waiters, and at the same time anyone who makes more than you is equally worthy of your criticism. Whatever man--if getting it wrong , and having everyone see you are wrong--but maintain your stance --you think you win the battle--you lose twice....
sebastian dangerfield November 09, 2012 at 02:24 AM
Big Family, What we learn from Never is, that he thinks we import Texas oil. He thinks Obamacare is healthcare. He thinks that people who sell ink cartridges are incapable of understanding or having a political view. He thinks that all rich people, need to brag. IN short, he has stereotypes for every job. He misunderstands economics. He cant admit when he is wrong. He pretends to care about those in need, at the same time he disparages their intelligence level. Hmm... so where does that leave him? What's left, is that he loves people who dont have a job, and need taxes to support themselves. Clearly a waiter who earns income is not worthy of respect. Not a decent person by any standard.
sebastian dangerfield November 09, 2012 at 02:26 AM
Oh yeah--and he stiffs the waiter when he orders wine. ha--awesome talk about self-centered.

Why do Luca and his pals keep talking about that river in Egypt?
Never November 09, 2012 at 04:29 AM
Luca said, "For the record, I said nothing about North Sea oil etc..." Yep, ya did Luca. You mentioned $10 oil. That's BRENT. That's North Sea oil. (Or didn't you know BRENT comes from the North Sea?) It's right there for everyone to read Luca. You can deny it, but it's right there. Luca, we have all witnessed your dance for years. When you are caught making a mistake, you start making up "facts" and revising the history of who said what and creating new IDs and hurling as many insults as possible in an attempt to divert everyone's attention. Remember in the past when your logic in these forum debates was shown to be flawed and suddenly Steven Fields would pop up as your wingman, praising everything you said....... until you messed up on a post and accidentally revealed that you were Steven Fields. Just like you did with Joyce. Some things never change.
sebastian dangerfield November 09, 2012 at 04:52 AM
Brent is an index---a way of pricing. Just as West Texas intermediate is an index... I was never steven fields, but its interesting, that you popped up just recently....in fact just 2 days ago. I dont understand this entire line of reasoning....I have been luca for 2 years... you have been "never' for 3 days, and various other names for apparently a number of years...so on what basis , even if i were steven fields, would you be in a position to criticize? Now when i pose questions--such as do we import west texas intermediate-you dont answer. Why? You dont answer, because you are very afraid to admit being wrong. So -therefore you are Paul D. We all know that you are Ed Tyrell--...Ed Tyrrell whose wife carol has an enormous behind..and that is why you are often frustrated. A 59 year old guy , who never achieved much of anything--understanding that life is only downhill from here--and sadly , wear a moustache. No Ed--brent crude is from the north sea, but the index is used as a way to price oil from more than just the north sea.... Look back Ed--check out my acknowledgement that WTI is priced higher than Brent. And for a while there even Saudi Oil was priced using the WTI index--but they changed it, and adopted Brent... I havent made a mistake....oil companies in the US stopped pumping oil when it reached 10 dollars on the brent scale, or 12 on the WTi scale despite your contention that anything over 4 dollars is profit.

Brent North Sea crude for delivery in November, the market benchmark price for oil, tumbled $3.84 to $108.19 a barrel in London. New York's main contract, light sweet crude for October shed $3.03 to $92.26 a barrel, AFP reported. "Both the major crude oil contracts started the day a touch firmer as traders woke up to news that the Bank of Japan had joined the Federal Reserve and European Central Bank in announcing more monetary easing measures," said F NEVER --please read with me the first line of this article. but you can see this artcile basically every day. Repeat after me BRENT = THE MARKET BENCHMARK. BRENT IS THE BENCHMARK Get it? Now go away because you have been proven wrong. Ok? Not only do we not import WTI (dope) the market considers BRENT as the benchmark for referrring to where OIL is.
Never November 09, 2012 at 05:28 AM
There you go again Luca. Can you show us where I said WTI is imported? See what happened here Luca? You made it up and then by a few hours later you forgot you made it up and now are decreeing it as fact, that I said WTI is imported. Read the entire thread Luca. Simple question, where did I say WTI is imported?
sebastian dangerfield November 09, 2012 at 06:25 AM
Never: I said the price of oil was 10 bucks. Ok, then you said that WTI never went below 12. Next I said, but you were talking about how to deal with the price of imported oil---ergo you must be talking about imported oil, when you began this rant. How about this--when you spoke about OPEC and the USA being their biggest customer---and the fact that buildings were going up in Dubai--- and we didnt need to buy their oil for more than 20 dollars, because the price of oil was 2 dollars and to ship it 2 more --and they would have not be able to get 0 dollars in profit-- Were you not talking about oil that is imported? Please-- a simple yes or no---ive asked this question like 8 times. When you dont answer, its hard to have a conversation. Here is your post--were you talking about WTI here? Because it sounds to me like you were talking about imported oil in which case, when I say that oil is 10 bucks, I am using your point of reference---meaning NOT WTI. But OPEC already owns their oil fields and oil wells. But if your biggest customer, the USA, said they were no longer going to pay that amount, would you hold back your oil and get $0 in profit? How would you pay for all those new building projects going up in Dubai these last few years? How would you feed your nation with $0?
sebastian dangerfield November 09, 2012 at 06:28 AM
In other words--if you want to be fair at all--why did you revert to WTI as your price point? When we were talking about imports? Does that make sense?
sebastian dangerfield November 09, 2012 at 06:42 AM
look, bottom line is this---I said the price of oil dropped to 10 bucks a barrel. You shouldnt have corrected me. It did. Brent is the market benchmark. The market benchmark hit 10 bucks...pretty simple... then you went about bobbing and weaving. I can guarantee you, ask any oil trader "did the oil market hit 10 dollars in 1998 and they wont say "no way--" At the very least they will tell you that yes, Brent did. I rest my case--you can continue, but im sorry, in as much as you dont admit when youre wrong---a trademark---you just are.
sebastian dangerfield November 09, 2012 at 06:51 AM
and one more question for you---is it wrong to sign up more than one name? A yes or no answer would be appreciated. I have you as a stalker--its not that difficult to understand all the people you have posed as--is that what my retort to you is? Is that what im getting hung up on , ever? If you care about name changes, rather than points--then keep your same damn name. If you dont --then dont bother trying to tell me im 8 or 23 other people. Deal? There is basically one thing i care about....and that is when someone on here pretends to have fought in combat. When you pretend to be a republican--it just baffles me-- its not disturbing in as much as its baffling, and I ask for an explanation. Saying that you fought in vietnam or have a grandfather who was a fleet admiral etc for the purposes of raising your stature? That is way beyond my frame of acceptablility. but dont just take my view on it---it happens to be a federal crime---so, its pretty widely accepted that pretending to be a soldier when you are not, is very slimey.
