The following is a letter to the editor.
By Jack Testani
Testani to Nancy DiNardo: "Martha Mark's voting record on the Town Council should cause every Trumbull Taxpayer to be afraid."
“Nancy DiNardo’s press release is not an accurate accounting of the truth,” stated Testani. “First Selectman Herbst was provided three dates by the Greater Bridgeport Regional Business Council and those dates did not work for his calendar. The October 31, 2013 date that Ms. DiNardo references was actually provided by Ms. King of the Greater Bridgeport Regional Business Council.” Testani pointed to emails sent to the first selectman’s office as proof that DiNardo was not accurate. Testani noted that DiNardo’s latest fabrications are a sign of desperation on behalf of a campaign that is floundering and behind in the polls. “Martha Mark’s voting record on the Town Council should cause every Trumbull taxpayer to be afraid,” stated Testani. “She votes for more spending, higher budgets and higher taxes at the same time she disregards public safety and the right of the public to participate in financial matters of the Town. In this campaign she tries to be on every side of every issue and when she doesn’t do that, she goes back to ‘old reliable’ and abstains, her constituents deserve better.” Testani noted that the First Selectman has never shied away from a debate and looks forward to discussing the positive accomplishments of the last four years and where his plans to continue to move Trumbull forward in a positive direction over the next two years.
“First Selectman Herbst looks forward to discussing his record over the last four years and where he plans to lead the Town over the course of the next two years. Since taking office four years ago, the First Selectman has kept his word. The tax rate has been stabilized, the grand list is showing consistent growth and our schools are shining, especially with the addition of full day kindergarten and additional technology in the classroom. He has also led with a firm resolve in protecting the public through some of the worst weather related emergencies we have ever seen. First Selectman Herbst is the type of strong leader we need in tough times and we are ready, willing and eager to put his record up against our opponents any day of the week.”
Testani also noted that
it is disturbing how Paul Timpanelli and employees of the Greater Bridgeport
Regional Business Council play politics on company time. “In reading the emails sent by the BRBC to
First Selectman Herbst’s office, it is clear that someone from the BRBC
contacted Ms. DiNardo and stretched the truth.
This is not the first time Trumbull Republicans have seen this type of
partisanship from the BRBC and it certainly won’t be the last.” Testani noted that Lori King is a former
Democrat on the Trumbull Town Council and Trumbull Board of Education and Mr.
Timpanelli is an active member of the Trumbull Democratic Town Committee,
himself a former first selectman.
Perhaps Mr. Timpanelli should follow the lead of our first selectman,
who has hired Republicans, Democrats and Independents to serve in his
