Obama Leads in CT Despite Fundraising Gap

Mitt Romney raises more money than the president throughout Connecticut.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has President Barack Obama beat when it comes to fundraising in Connecticut – at least for now.

Polls show that Obama maintains a lead in Connecticut, and a fundraiser could push Obama ahead when it comes to money raised in the state.

Romney raised $4.8 million from Connecticut residents so far compared to Obama’s $2.8 million, according to the Associated Press. A on Monday could net Obama $2 million when the president meets with Hollywood celebrities and donors willing to shell out $35,000.

Nationally, Romney outraised Obama by $101 million to $75 million, according to the LA Times

A June poll from Quinnipiac University shows Obama leading Romney by a 50 - 38 margin. George H.W. Bush in 1988 was the last Republican presidential candidate to carry the state.

Correction: The last Republican to win Connecticut was incorrectly identified as Ronald Reagan.

The latest poll of CT voters shows Romney leading Obama among Independents by 7 points, a good sign, imo! That and the much greater CT donations to Romney indicate that millions of voters are belatedly waking up to just how hoodwinked they were into voting for Obama! I'm not saying that Romney will necessarily win in blue state CT, but it's pretty clear that Americans will be giving Obama the boot, because of his ABYSMAL FAILURE at the job!!! That is, unless Obama can steal the election, like Al Franken stole his senate election. ******* Patch readers may be interested in taking the poll and commenting on: "Patch's Poll: Does Malloy Deserve to be in the Top Five of Least-Liked Governors?" It is on Patch sites all over the state, but tonight not in Fairfield Cty. that I could see. Closest may be Naugatuck Patch. http://windsorlocks.patch.com/articles/patchs-poll-does-malloy-deserve-to-be-in-the-top-five-of-least-liked-governors

The fact that Romney has out-fundraised Obama in CT does not show that "millions of voters are..waking up." It shows that the ultra wealthy one-percenters (of which Romney is one) are donating to the guy who wants to keep giving them tax breaks at the expense of the poor and the middle class. No surprises there.

And I guess that $35,000 a plate for Obama yesterday was from the low and middle class?
Joan August 07, 2012 at 04:12 PM
No, but apparently it was from people who don't want to see them eviscerated.

Well they better get rid of Obama then, once his healthcare starts kicking in they're never gonna find any work!

Joan, so why did those very same "ultra wealthy one-percenters" give boodles to Obama in 2008? Could it be that he made special "crony capitalist" bff promises to them which he BROKE?!! They have woken up now to their grave mistake, and are trying to help repair the DEVASTATION Obama has wreaked upon our nation! ..."Obama is losing independents and having trouble fundraising in Connecticut. ...it's a big switch from 2008. "Where you can really see his problems is in fundraising."... "See the financial shellacking Obama is getting from Romney in one of America's wealthiest communities"... "Romney is raising four times as much from an area that, in 2008, Obama positively relied on."... "The area is on pace to outperform the money contributed in 2008. If any donors are sitting out, they're Obama donors being replaced by Romney backers"... "Obama is getting creamed on fundraising on this crucial turf. The wealthy Connecticut crowd that paid the rent in 2008 isn't with him anymore."... http://www.businessinsider.com/obama-fundraising-problems-in-connecticut-2012-8 See this for one of the millions of the 99 % who is totally AWAKE now to Obama's ABYSMAL failures! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vLebCTGHJk

Uh, I don't know, but I'm going to venture a guess that maybe it's because Obama is in favor of making the ultra wealthy pay a slightly higher tax rate, and Romney wants to keep giving them more tax breaks that the rest of us will have to pay for. Yeah, I think that could be it. I would also surmise that in 2008, they were fleeing from the catastrophic Republican policies that had brought the world economy to near-collapse. Either that, or it was the lunatic choice of Sarah Palin for the Republican ticket. Take your pick.
