THS Building Committee Chair Threatens Suit Over Legal Fees

James Nugent, the chairman of the Trumbull High School Building Committee, said he intends to the sue the town for not paying his legal bills from an ethics complaint earlier this year.

In a recent filing, Nugent said he incurred a $2,850 legal bill to defend himself against an ethics complaint filed by Trumbull Internal Auditor James Henderson.

Nugent called the complaint "frivolous."

The details of the complaint are confidential because it was dismissed, but it may have dealt with the cost of snow removal and other cleanup caused by storms between 2011 and 2013.

The complaint targeted officials including then-Schools Supt. Ralph Iassogna, School Board Chairman Steve Wright and school district contractor Al Barbarotta. The town paid the legal bills of the school board members, but not Barbarotta's.
