Trumbull Scouts Go Public

Girl and Boy Scouts shadowed Trumbull officials recently.

Trumbull's officials got helping hands recently with "Scouting in Government Day."

Sara Scinto, 11, said she helped Information Technology Director Bill Chin program computers. 

"It was really good. I learned a lot," she said. She discovered town computers are named after animals: fox, horse and wildcat, and printers are named after presidents.

They finished up the day with pizza, soda, cupcakes and certificates in Council Chambers.

"I really enjoy this," Herbst said. He quoted the late U.S. Congressman Tip O'Neill, who said, "All government is local."

"Government is very much local," Herbst said. "I hope, going forward, you will continue your scouting. You learn a lot. It builds a lot of character."
