Trumbull elementary and middle school students logged small increases and decreases on this year's Connecticut Mastery Tests.
But Trumbull still topped the overall state percentages of students at or above proficiency.
The test covers students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing, and science for fifth- and eighth-graders.
Reading proficiency was down slightly in fourth through seventh grades, and up slightly for third- and eighth-graders.
Writing proficiency increased a little for fifth-graders and fell a little for the rest of the grades. The number of students at or above proficiency in science in grades 5 and 8 slipped slightly.
