Bridgeport Hospital has launched a new free breastfeeding support group for new and expectant mothers. The group will meet on the first and third Wednesday of the month, including April 4, April 18, May 2 and May 16, at 5520 Park Ave., Trumbull, just off Merritt Parkway Exit 47. The focus of the meetings is on mother-to-mother support. Mothers can attend as many meetings as they wish, and they are welcome to bring their babies.
Breastfeeding instruction at the meetings is provided by a certified lactation consultant and based on the principles in the bookBreastfeeding Made Simple: Seven Natural Laws for Nursing Mothers, second edition, by Nancy Mohrbacher and Kathleen Kendall-Tackett. Copies of the book are available for sale at group meetings. The first ten mothers to register for the group will receive a free copy when they arrive.
