Former THS Athlete Honored For Sportsmanship

2013 Trumbull High School graduate Casey Mack praised opposing teams' performances and bought bats for teams with limited sports budgets.

For that, he was honored Tuesday night with the Connecticut Association of Athletic Directors (CAAD).

At the Board of Education meeting, his mother, Donna, and brother, Riley, accepted pins in his stead. Casey is away at college on a baseball scholarship, Donna Mack said.

The award is given out to a handful of students a year in the United States, she added.

Mack said the family moved to Trumbull seven years ago to give Casey a chance to go to school. He missed a lot of time because if illness, she said.

THS Athletic Director Michael Herbst was a "father figure" to her son.
