Former THS Baseball Player Honored

2013 Trumbull High School Graduate Casey Mack praised an opposing team's performance and bought bats for schools with limited sports budgets.

That's why he was honored Tuesday night by the Board of Education.

His mother, Donna, and brother, Riley, accepted pins in his stead because he was away at college on a baseball scholarship.

Donna Mack said her son missed a lot of school because of illness and needed the support that Trumbull's school district offered.

The family moved to Trumbull seven years ago.

She added that THS Athletic Director Michael Herbst was like a "father figure" to her son.

The THS baseball team narrowly lost the FCIAC tournament in May 2013.

Mack's award is given out six student athletes in the United States each year, said Donna Mack.
