School Year End Means Lots to Do

End of the Year Busier than Ever

bustles with tributes, events, and ceremonies as the year comes to a close.

The ACE Foundation Recognition Celebration, National Honor Society Induction, the Spring Choral Concert, Underclass and Senior Awards Night, FFA Awards Night, Scholarship Night, and the upcoming Spring Sports Banquet are just a few of the many events highlighting the success of individual students, activities, clubs and sports teams.

During the recent Academic Challenge for Excellence (ACE) Foundation Recognition Celebration, more than 600 people attended the ceremony and honored the multitude of middle school and high school scholastic groups. The ACE Foundation, which began in 2003, supports activities and groups, similar to a booster club.

According to the ACE Foundation website, it would "provide support to Trumbull High School students and teachers interested in going ‘above and beyond’ activities traditionally available in the classroom. This included … the We the People, Federal Challenge, and Math teams and the Eagle's Eye and Trillium publishing groups."

In addition to the above groups, the achievements of teams such as the middle school and high school Knowledge Masters, Odyssey of the Mind, and Mock Trial were highlighted, along with numerous others. Dan Neumann, a member of the Trumbull ACE Foundation Board of Directors, was delighted with the evening’s success.

“With 670 students participating in 52 teams, groups, clubs in 37 programs this year, the ACE Board decided to take the risk of redesigning the celebration's format to shorten it while, at the same time, still providing the deserving students and advisors with a meaningful recognition experience," he said. "We feel very good about the overwhelmingly positive feedback we've received since this year's Recognition Celebration.

"We were very grateful for the town's civic leaders taking the time to attend to offer their congratulatory remarks but, even better, we were delighted to give advisors and students the opportunity to demonstrate their enthusiasm as they shared word of their groups' activities and triumphs. It was a marvelous and inspirational evening for everyone,” Neumann said.

In addition, many students were inducted to the National Honor Society during an evening ceremony in the THS auditorium. These hardworking students retain a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 and take an active role within the high school and throughout the community.

Senior members, invested last year, were on hand to welcome new inductees along with parents, friends, teachers and administrators.
