Trumbull High School Crazy for 'Crazy for You'

The musical opened in 1992 on Broadway and earned a Tony Award.

Trumbull High's spring musical will be "Crazy for You,"  the romantic love musical with a book by Ken Ludwig, lyrics by Ira Gershwin and music by George Gershwin, from March 21-24.

According to a press release, the “new Gershwin musical” features stellar tap dancing, classic comedy routines, and timeless show tunes such as “I Got Rhythm,” “Embraceable You” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It.” A cast of over 70 THS students is headed up by seniors Matt Johnson and Gabby Gottschall as Bobby Child and Polly Baker, an unlikely duo destined to fall in love in 1930s Deadrock, Nevada. But before they find happiness, they must find their way through mistaken identities, pushy parents, clumsy cowboys and a bevy of beautiful showgirls.

Auditions for CRAZY FOR YOU began in December and cast members have been rehearsing five days per week since early January. The student production crew of over 30 students has been working backstage to build, paint and create sets and props to create the fictional gold-mining town of Deadrock. There will be some long weekends and late nights as the cast and crew put the finishing touches on this huge production.

In recent years, the THS musicals program has been recognized for its work with multiple nominations for Connecticut High School Musical Theater Awards, including wins for Best Choreography, Best Leading Male, Best Ensemble and Best Lighting Design. The THS musicals program is run by THS teachers Jessica Spillane and Shannon Bolan. Trumbull theater-goers of all ages are invited to enjoy a great classic musical at performances March 21 – March 24.  Details and ticket sales available at THSmusicals.com.
