Alpha Community Services YMCA 11th Annual ‘Walk to End Homelessness’

Walk to End Homelessness to Benefit Bridgeport Emergency Shelter and Supportive Housing Programs. 

Alpha Community Services YMCA, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, is sponsoring a ‘Walk to End Homelessness’ on Saturday May 19th at Captain’s Cove in Bridgeport.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the walk starts at 9:30 AM, ending at noon. Proceeds from the walk directly benefit the residents in theAlpha Community Services YMCA’s emergency shelter and supportive housing programs in Bridgeport, CT.

Celebrating its eleventh year, the 4-mile walk along the St. Mary’s by the Sea shoreline in the historic Black Rock neighborhood will be followed by community oriented activities: face painting, a raffle, auction, live entertainment and light snacks and refreshments.

According to the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness there are 33,000 people homeless in the state of Connecticut. Currently, Alpha Community Services YMCA is housing 72 Children in our shelters.

“The Alpha Community Services approach is the only approach to ending homelessness,” highlights, Jane Selden, Board Member of the Alpha Community Services YMCA. 

Alpha Community Services, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA and the largest provider of permanent supportive housing in the state, is relied upon by Bridgeport to provide a sense of community, hope and a safe place to belong.
