Beach Reads ... Adult Summer Reading 2012 @ the Trumbull and Fairchild Libraries Starts Today.  Thurs. June 28 – Aug. 23.  To participate pick up and complete one entry form for each book, e-book, magazine, or audio item read between the dates.  Deposit your entry form(s) in the box located at the or Circulation Desks to be eligible for weekly prize drawings.  Must be 18 or older.  Details and exclusions online or on flyers around the library!   

 

Demo:  Free E-Book Downloading through the Library!  Fri. June 29, 10 – 11:30am.  Lecture / demonstration of the Overdrive system on downloading electronic books, audiobooks and videos to your computer, ebook reader, or hand-held device.  Several different ebook readers for you to try after the presentation!  Trumbull resident.  Register.

Teens & Tweens – Wii Surfing for Summer Reading Kickoff!  Sat. June 30, 3 – 4pm.  Gnarly!  Show off your surfing skills and enjoy a frozen summer treat!  Ages 10 and up.  Free.  Drop in.  Bring a friend!

Drift Wood Picture Frame Stand.  Teens and Tweens Summer Activities.  Mon. Jul. 2, 3 – 4pm.  Create a picture frame and stand from beach-finds to preserve your summer photos.  All materials provided (including 5x7 lucite frame) but feel free to bring any summer-themed items you may have at home. Grades 6-12. Register. Free.

Teens:  Summer Reading Bingo Signups Continue.  Sign up and receive your bingo card and a free gift.  Read 5 books of varied types to complete your card.  If you get bingo, put your card in the box in front of the raffle-gift-basket that you would like to win.  Winners drawn 8/20.  For those entering grades 6-12.

 

Childrens’ Programs

 

Summer Reading Kickoff!  The Toe Jam Puppet Band Returns to the Trumbull Library!  Sat. June 30, 11am – 12pm.  Arrrgh!  Dance piratey jigs with the Toe Jam crew!  Learn the Skull and Crossbones, or become dancing lobsters and seagulls in a line dance!  Wear your pirate gear and climb aboard and we’ll have a Piratey Celebration! All ages welcome.  Details online. 

 

Session A - Storytime for 2's & 3's.  Tues. July 3, 9:30 – 10am.  Stories, crafts and fun!  Register for this July 4 week session. Trumbull residents.

Slather on your sun block, squeeze into your shorts, shimmy over with your beach towel for a storytime and beach craft.  Held outside weather permitting.  Register for each session. Storytime for 4’s and 5’s at Fairchild:  Sail Away!  Thurs. July 5, 1:30 -2pm.   Let’s go on a wonderful journey together.  Read some books, sing some chanties and make sailboat to float.  Register for each session. Trumbull residents.  Details online.
