During her term of office she says she will access available grant money through the Rotary International Foundation to fund projects the club will want to support; coordinate with the Rotary-sponsored THS Interact Club on joint projects;  she also plans to concentrate on giving resident more information about the many international and community service projects the Club sponsors.

Here are some of the events planned:

  •  The annual sunset run, upcoming July 26
  •  The dodge ball tournament, fall
  •  The Trumbull carnival, spring
  •  Read aloud, spring
  •  Student of the month recognition, year-around
  •  Golf tournament, spring
  •  Student scholarships, spring
  •  Wine/beer tasting, fall
  •  Dictionary project, fall

“Among the things I am most proud of,” she says, “is our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Heroes project now underway to build a home for a deserving veteran and their family.”

Sutton-Darr joined Rotary in 2006 in order to expand her community service involvement beyond local fund-raising projects for the American Cancer Society and other charities. “As sole proprietor of my business, The Decorator’s Eye, I could only do so much to give back to the community. Rotary added a new dimension to my efforts,” she said. She began as fellowship chair, then community service chair, first VP,  and was named president-elect last year.
