TYA Summer Musical Announced! Thoroughly Modern Mille

This summer TYA will present Thoroughly Modern Mille. It’s the zany 1920’s musical that took Broadway by storm winning 6 TONY Awards including BEST MUSICAL!  Millie was Adapted from the 1967 Universal Pictures film starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, with an all-new musical score by Jeanine Tesori and Dick Scanlon, as well as a revamped storyline by Scanlon and Richard Morris. Mary Joan Wright and Merial Cornell, co-directors of the Trumbull Youth Department and producers, are very excited to announce that the TYA summer show will once again be back at Trumbull High School in the new auditorium. Brett Boles will direct this year’s show. Brett is an award-winning musical theatre composer, lyricist, and librettist.  He is also a director, musical director, and performer.  He has worked both in the community and professionally for the past ten years.  Brett has worked with composers such as Stephen Schwartz, Marc Shaiman, and Frank  Wildhorn, and performers including Brian Stokes Mitchell, Linda Eder, Jeremy Jordan, and Richard Kind. TYA is happy to announce that David Harris will return, as Music Director and Lisa Minelli will Join TYA as Choreographer.   AUDITIONS for MILLIE will be held May 31, from 5 – 10PM and June 1, from 1-6PM at Madison Middle School, 4630 Madison Ave. in Trumbull.  Additional callbacks will be held on June 3rd from 5- 10PM.   Auditions are open to students entering 9th grade (Fall 2013) through age 21. No experience necessary. Performances will be held August 1-4, 2013.   TYA is also looking for crew, volunteers and sponsors. Detailed information is available on our website: www.trumbullyouth.org.
