REVISED SCHEDULE!

Thursdays: 1/16 - 2/13 from 6:30 -8:30

Trumbull High School Auditorium

This is a class for every aspiring Actor, whether the student is interested in Musical Theatre or Straight Plays.  Using Michael Shurtleff's book "Audition," students will examine, dissect, and perform a number of scenes from various plays and musicals.  Shurtleff's twelve guideposts will be used to develop the students' understanding of Relationship, Conflict, The Moment Before, Humor, Opposites, Discoveries, Communication and Competition, Importance, Events, Place, Role Playing, and Mysteries/Secrets.   NOTE: this class is ACTING ONLY.  There will be no music and no choreography.

Brett Boles is an award-winning musical theatre composer, lyricist, and librettist. His musical FOREVERMAN had its premiere last year at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, where it won awards for Outstanding Orchestration and the New World Stages Development Award.  Brett is also a performer, having appeared in over 35 productions, professionally and locally, and had the honor of performing on Broadway with the 2003 cast of Les Miserables.  Brett is a director, musical director, acting coach, vocal coach, piano teacher, and has served as a clinician at high schools around the country specializing in musical theatre history and analysis of lyrics and music.  Most recently, Brett co-conceived and helped to produce From Broadway With Love: A Benefit Concert for Sandy Hook with Broadway producer (and Trumbull native!) Van Dean.  Brett has had the privilege of working with composer/lyricists Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) and Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, SMASH), composer Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde), and performers including Linda Eder, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christine Ebersole, Richard Kind, Mary Testa, Jeremy Jordan, and Josh Young, among others.  He is a member of the Tony-Award-Winning BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and the Dramatists Guild.  Brett directed the TYA 2013 summer production of Thoroughly Modern Millie!
