High School musicals, food drives and visitors from the Netherlands.

 and on the screen: Fairfield County cheerleading teams will be the focus of MSG Varsity’s "The Cheering Life: 2011 Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) Cheerleading Championships." The 90-minute special will air Sunday at 6 p.m. on MSG Varsity, Cablevision’s iO TV (Channel 14), according to a press release.

Bulky waste pickup starts Monday: Call early for an appointment at 203-452-5070 or 203-452-5071. Available appointments fill up quickly, according to the town Web site. All waste disposal items at the curb should sorted and out by 7 a.m. on the appointed day. Disorganized piles will be bypassed and the opportunity forfeited for the year.

Pickups will run through September. There is no charge for the service and each residence will receive only one pick-up per household per year, according to the site.

gets tourists: Three visitors from Rotterdam, Netherlands recently toured The Kennedy Center to share ideas and learn about the center's offerings, according to a press release.

For years, their non-profit agency, Pameijer in the Netherlands, had heard about the "innovative and high quality programs offered by The Kennedy Center," the release states.  The Netherlands has a total of 15 other non-profits that provide services forpeople with disabilities. Pameijer serves over 4,000 clients and has been providing services for 85 years.

The group was also visiting the United States to participate in the "Outsider Art Fair" in New York City with artists from their art therapy program, according to the release.

Everything's coming up school musicals:  presents "Cinderella" starting March 17. Performance times will be at 7 p.m. opening night, 7:30 p.m. on March 18 and at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on March 19.

A rich harvest:  Several elected officials have reported success in gathering food and money donations for the after a drive Feb. 26 and 27 outside of .

District 2 Town Council representatives Robert J. Pescatore, Jr. and Mary Beth Thornton, Board of Finance member Andrew Palo, and Board of Education member Tom Kelly spent four hours outside of the store, taking in seven carts of food, $50 in gift cards from Porricelli's management and $95 dollars in cash donations to be applied to heating and energy programs for those who qualify.
