In this day and age you have to be aware of your surroundings at all times in public and even inRead More bathrooms and changing rooms to protect yourself. I understand why this woman is so upset, I do. (I thought the State was immune from lawsuits.) Joe, if you are paying the salaries of pedophile priests, then you are a sad enabler. But if youRead More are so gullible to excuse and happily pay the salaries of CORRUPT Career Pols, then there is no helping you. MAC July 25, 2014 at 04:36 pm
CT's history of Corrupt Pols goes back at least to Chris Dudd's father, Thomas Dodd, Senator who wasRead More Censured by the Senate for financial misconduct (1967). More recently, state senator Thomas Gaffey (D) was arrested for larceny and had to resign in 2011. Mayor of Hartford, Eddie Perez (D), was sentenced to eight years,... with three years in prison, to be followed by three years of probation for corruption. (2010)

How do you know the reporter didn't mind if the kid ran around with his very expensive mic? How doRead More you know the kid didn't grab it out of his hand and run around with it while the mother did/said nothing to the kid? You DON'T know that, and neither do I. What I DO know, is just because the kid may have been "curious" about the mic, as you suggest, doesn't mean he should be allowed to take it and run (around a pool, no less) A) it doesn't belong to him; B) it's an expensive piece of equipment that shouldn't be played with by any 4 year old; and C) It's not up to the reporter to say "no", it's up to the mother to teach him some guidelines and restrictions. With your thought process, I guess no matter what the kid did in DI or no matter how obnoxious he was, it would be OK behavior. That thinking is exactly what is wrong with the way parents are raising their precious little ones these days. And if you listen to the radio interview of the mother, it is clear that she thinks whatever little Justin wants to do should be perfectly acceptable to the rest of the world. As she says, she will not change his behavior to make the world happy, even tho people are "constantly" telling her to. Wise up. This is clearly a case of poor parenting skills.

Sorry no amount of corporate spin put forth by the Patch or this town will ever replace the simpleRead More facts. This corporation does not treat its employees fairly. I'm not just talking about their in store "associates". Consider the working conditions of their warehouses, the recent truck accident caused by corporate demands on drivers. Go one step further and look at how they responded to the tragedy at one of their factories in Bangladesh , where hundreds of people lost their lives due to dismal working conditions that Walmart knew existed. Add all of those things to the fact that this company's success is contingent upon continued tax payer support of their employees' lives via food stamps and Medicaid. For me it is a moral issue. I will never support this organization until it cleans up its act.
Crown Royal July 25, 2014 at 04:00 pm
Irene, There are countless other companies that have the same working conditions you areRead More describing. There are thousands of companies with warehouse conditions far worse than Walmarts, because most of Walmarts are at least inspected by the FDA. ****The truck driver had only driven for 9 hours and 30 minutes that day (1.5 hours below the maximum allowed), I would bet your family has been on a road trip of equal or greater length. ****I hope none of your clothing came from Children's Place, Disney or Calvin Klein, as all of them were in the same collapsed factory as Walmart. Or any of these companies that continue to use "sweatshops": Adidas, American Eagle, Gap, Levi, Nike, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Old Navy, Macy's, Liz Claiborne, etc... **** Lastly, I hope you never eat at McDonalds, or shop at TJ Maxx, or buy your groceries from Stop & Shop, as all of these companies pay similar wages to what Walmart pays.
Crown Royal July 25, 2014 at 04:07 pm
Stop blaming a single company for the problems in America. We have an obsession with buying cheapRead More shit, yet we complain when the only way a company can afford those prices is to use the minimum legally set wages. Tell your government to raise the minimum wage, mandate safe working environments, require longer rest periods, etc. Just please stop blaming the entire situation on a single company who is abiding by the laws set by the government.

Kara, the headline reads "Organic Fruit Sold Locally Recalled for Possible ListeriaRead More Contamination". It's clearly sensationalizing the two organic products.
Suzanne jefferis July 24, 2014 at 01:12 pm
The article should read 'Fruit Sold Locally'... It is misleading to the unaware who read no fartherRead More to suggest that organic fruit is the problem. All fruit, organic or those sprayed with unsafe pesticides should be washed. If gene spliced with herbicides and toxic pathogens as with GMO fruit, it is no longer a product of nature.
