I hope the project gets completed, but the photo shows a mess. I'm not sure when it was taken, but…Read More there are no visible stormwater BMPs. The construction manager should to take a look at the stormwater general permit for contruction activity. There is a stream across the street that hooks to the Pequonnock...an impaired water body.

Such a great restaurant. I took my wife there for her birthday and everything from the food to the…Read More service to the atmosphere was fantastic. I'm sure these dinners will be equally impressive.

Yeah because Bridgeport has so much to offer. They could use the income, so could the State, and the…Read More thousands of jobs that it would create. Taxpayers of Bridgeport are going to see a 2% increase come July 1st. and what do they have to show for it? failing ballpark, and arena holding on by its teeth. Casino's bring more than just gambling, if people want to gamble they can take one of a hundred busses to AC or 1 of the 2 in CT or soon to Springfield. They can even go to RI. What it brings to Bridgeport is much needed revenue and jobs. Restaurants, Hotels, Shops would all need employees. More fire and police Jobs, city jobs. It brings entertainment of all types of events. If you say it will bring crime....don't worry, they already have that. Bridgeport can only get better.

Yeah, just what we need, more gambling! Thank God Bridheport doesn't have gambling!

Should have let Trump develop Steel Point in Bridgeport. Boy are we so smart.....

Good luck PTR Industries. I'm sure Senator Cruz of Texas will offer you a sweet deal. As for me, I…Read More proud to live in a State that doesn't pander to the NRA or the gun makers.

It was a Breakfast and Lunch "hash joint" that didn't have a liquor license. The food was…Read More cheap and it was good, very similar to Bill Drive In in Monroe. The vast majority of Trumbull commutes outside of the town to work and very few commute in. A place that is not open at night and does not serve liquor cannot survive. You could have the best food in the world, but if you are in a crappy location, it just wont work. I think its just a matter of time (now that Porricelli's is gone) that you see the liquor store in that shopping center go under as well.

Nancy, I think we can all agree that Trumbull dining options are poor, but you are kidding yourself…Read More if you think their food was good. I can make a better breakfast in my kitchen for less money and a cleaner environment to eat it in...while I am not denying that space limitations and the price of doing business were contributing factors, the reality is that if a product is in demand, it will excel in the market. Simple economics.

The greed that is generated from these politicians is disgusting and it spreads like a cancer. Look…Read More at Murphy's brown nose, he mimics Blumenthal who is out touch with the working class. They don't address the important things that effect everyday problems, instead they focus on the squeaky wheel, and in end the average taxpayer takes the hit, because no matter what happens it will never effect them.

I have yet to seen any news outlet report who actually proposed the bill. Will you be the first…Read More Paul? My money is on some Democrat!

I have fond memories of McKenzie's. jean True worked there forever and she knew everything that was…Read More going on. Nothing slid pass that woman. Will miss this institution and think about Ms. True often.

When coming back to Trumbull I do indeed miss Frances' Bakery. That one hurt.

Trumbull is the way it has always been, a residential town, a suburb. That's what the townspeople…Read More always wanted and still like about it. No one wanted fast food places throughout town with drive-thru windows like neighborinng Bpt, Monroe, and Shelton. Trumbull is still that way because not much has changed. I grew up in town and now live in another town. If I had a choice, I'd choose Trumbull. So, you have to drive elsewhere to do what you need to do. You have the beautiful parks and pools, recreation areas that my current town does not. Be careful what you wish for if you start wanting development and change. Sure, no one likes to see empty storefronts, but that's just economics. Every town is suffering. I think your First Selectman has done an excellent job.

I for one am very sad that MacKenzie's is changing over. I worked there as a delivery driver and…Read More store personal back in the mid 80's for about 5 years during my late high school and early college years. My Mom also worked there for about 15 years. Still to this day it was a great place to work. The people there were great and the old owner Mike Lane was a truly great guy to work for. I had a lot of fun and cherish all the memories I had there.

My wife and I are frequent visitors to Pat's restaurant in Stratford, and we love the place. We'll…Read More definitely be 'regulars' at his new establishment when it opens -- as it will be right down the street from us. We can't wait! Pat and his staff are the best!

There was some major disappointment when the rumors spread that The Tavern had closed. Our area…Read More desperately needs this type of restaurant that can attract a healthy bar business but is also family friendly with great and affordable food.
Thrilled that it's been taken over by Rob Ryder. I frequented the Darien location of The Cookhouse while it was open, and the food was absolutely terrific. The Tavern atmosphere will play a great host to some of "Fat Tommy's" cooking. We'll head there as soon as we get a chance.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Those of us who live in this neighborhood have been screwed…Read More by sacred heart and trumbull. They overtaken a beautiful place and turned it into commercial entities which are profitable only to them. THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVE LIVED HERE FOR YEARS. Daily we must deal with volumes of traffic, drivers who use park avenue as a speed way, trucks digging up the lots, dirt and dust on our homes---just a total lack of respect for us by the so-called CHRISTIANS IN SACRED HEART AND THE MONEY HUNGRY TRUMBULLITES.

I agree with both you and gail on the free market issue, of which this issue is (for the most…Read More part). However, if the town and the 'people' of the town want Trumbull to remain a 'village' with small businesses and shops, we can help achieve this by encouraging a cultural infrastructure that supports these types of businesses. Instead a small group of vocal residents fight every new idea/proposal that is put forth in front of our boards and commissions, regardless of its merit. They just fear change, or believe any change is bad.

Do you even read? Or is it that as a big government lover (and probable Obama worshipper), Raymond,…Read More you want government to control EVERYTHING, and make just about every decision in businesses' and citizens' lives?!!
The closure of Poricelli's is NOT a "failure by Tim Herbst," as they did not even ask for his, or the town's assistance as THEY, the owners, were making the decision to close their business, after already closing/selling their other two stores!
I guess you don't even believe in the foundation of our nation, which is FREE MARKET Capitalism!
If you wish to contradict that assessment, you might start by reading the Constitution, and if that is too difficult for you--then you could at least read Gail Jarvis' comments on the original Poricelli's closing article on Patch.

the store closed because it was dirty in and out. it catered to the Italian community no one else,…Read More Scalafani products every where. in order to survive in this tough market you need to diversify. management. was none existent. Its not he towns fault or the landlords.I'll add the customers for the most part came for specials and the FREE COFFEE that was it. In and out for the most part, I call them "cherry pickers" I.t became a viciouss cycle selective customers and no variety is a lose lose situation. In the end everyone ended up loseing the landlord the town ,customers owners and most important the employees and families

Trumbull 'center' has no identity--never did.
Its history of ownership is interesting unto itself. Check it out.
Perhaps the 'new owners' are caught in a time-warp. Sure looks that way.
Bloggers, puhleeze stop thinking this is a local government issue--its not.
There are plenty of houses in Trumbull that are caught in the same time-warp and
that too is NOT A POLITICAL ISSUE (Repubs or Dems).
We live in a free market--you can take your business where ever. You will be welcomed.
