Matt Julian, Pat Corcoran and Conor Crouse score for Cadets, who face FCIAC rival Ridgefield in quarterfinals on Saturday

Consider the debt paid in full.

Zach Carrano recorded 24 saves Wednesday as the boys hockey team blanked Amity 3-0 in a Division I first-round game at the Shelton Ice Rinks.

St. Joseph (19-5), the No. 4 seed, went 3-0 against Amity this season after losing to the Spartans 6-5 in last year's Division II title game. Both teams moved up to Division I this year.

Carrano was coming off a spectacular 61-save performance in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to New Canaan in the FCIAC championship game.

No such heroics were needed Wednesday, as Matt Julian and Pat Corcoran scored in the first six minutes of the second period.  Conor Crouse provided insurance in the third.

Amity senior goalie Alec Mansfield made 34 saves, including 16 in the third period, for the Spartans, who finished the year at 9-11-1.

In Saturday's quarterfinals, the Cadets will meet No. 5 seed in a rematch of last week's FCIAC semifinal, won by St. Joseph, 3-2.
