Jamie Tamarkin Named Trumbull Rotary's Student of the Month

(February 1, 2014).  Jamie Tamarkin has a quick wit and a great sense of humor. But that is not why he was selected as Trumbull Rotary’s Student of the Month Award.  Jamie was unanimously chosen by the Saint Theresa middle school team to receive the award because he so clearly exemplifies the “service above self motto”.  Embracing one of St. Theresa’s important goals, serving others, and following the example of his mother Liz, Jamie consistently gives his time and talents to his school and the community.  Kerry Stratton, Jamie’s teacher stated, “Jamie can always be found assisting in the various collections that Saint Theresa School sponsors throughout the year -- the coat drive, the toy drive, the cereal drive, and even the shoe drive for Kenyan students which is going on now.”

“But his involvement does not stop there,” added Stratton.  Jamie has helped with Kennedy’s Rosary Project, the Connecticut Malta Mass and cookout, the World Day of Prayer For the Sick, and the Lourdes’ Youth Pilgrimage.  He even puts smiles on seniors’ faces by caroling at Saint Joseph’s Manor every year.

Within the school, Jamie is the go-to person for technical issues and last minute photo ops that need recording. “Whatever he is asked to do,” said Stratton, “Jamie is game to try and always willing to help out in any way he can.  There is no student within Saint Theresa more deserving of this award, and because our school also stands for serving and caring for one another as a way of life, it is a prized award indeed.”
