Spring Concert Series.  Blues Jazz Duo of Paul Gabriel and Larry Fallstrom. Sun. May 19, 2 – 3pm. Vocalist and guitarist Paul Gabriel and pianist Larry Fallstrom will perform classic electric blues tunes and original songs!  Mr. Gabriel’s career has spanned over 40 years, including albums by Harry Chapin and touring with Michael Bolton. In 2006 he formed Paul Gabriel and His Blues Band, and he gets excellent reviews worldwide. CDs for purchase.  Free.  Drop in.

Author Talk:  A History of Connecticut Food and A History of Connecticut Wine, by Eric D. Lehman and Amy Nawrocki.  Tues. May 21, 6:30 - 7:30pm.  Join foodies and local wine enthusiasts Lehman and Nawrocki as they share the intricacies of what is Connecticut food and identify the CT region wine blends and vintners. You will appreciate familiar comfort food recipes and delve into CT vineyards and varieties.  Drop in.  Free.

Children’s Events

 

Family Chess Club.  Sat. May 18, 10am – 12pm.  Selva Selvarajan's Family Chess Club will assemble on the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends).  Chess learners and experts from 4 to 94 are welcome. Meet in the Children's Section with your own board, or come to watch.

 

Poetry Workshop with Ellen Carpenter.  Sat. May 18, 13, 2 – 3pm.  Seventh in a series of poetry workshops for children in grades 1-3, conducted by Trumbull High School student and poetry enthusiast Ellen Carpenter.  This month’s workshop will feature the whimsical poetry of Lewis Carroll. Register.  

 

Fairchild Nichols Branch

 

Adults:  Culinary Herbs for the Kitchen Garden @ Fairchild Branch.  Mon. May 20, 7 – 8pm.  Do you love to cook with herbs and would like to learn how to plan, grow and harvest your own herb garden?  Come hear Nancy Moore of Moorefield Farm teach you all you need to know.  Registration required.  

 

Storytime for 4 year olds at Fairchild-Nichols.  Tues. May 21, 10:15 - 10:45am.  Music, stories, and a craft!  Caregivers stay in Children's area. Trumbull residents.  Register. 

 

Fairchild's Baby Cafe: Ages 6 mos. to 2 Years. Thurs. May 23, 10:15 - 10:45am.  Introduce your little one to books, music, rhymes and finger play to bond, have fun and increase early literacy skills! Child or caregiver Trumbull resident.  Drop in.

 

Storytime for 2's & 3's at Fairchild Nichols Branch.  Thurs. May 23, 11 - 11:30am.  Come join us for storytime!  We will have a little bit of music, a little bit of dancing, a lot a bit of stories and a show- stopping craft.  Child or caregiver Trumbull residents.
