Danbury Symphony Young Peoples Concert

A Concert For Young People (of all ages)

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and other magical works

The Danbury Music Centre presents the Danbury Symphony Orchestra in a family concert for youngsters of all ages, on Sunday, January 23, 3:00 p.m. at Danbury High School, Rt. 39, Danbury, CT.

Ariel Rudiakov, Music Director and Conductor of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra, will conduct the performance, which includes the popular Sorcerer’s Apprentice, made famous in the Walt Disney movie, Fantasia.  Joining the Danbury Symphony will be the string players from Danbury High School, under the direction of Mary Peters.  The combined groups will perform The Three Bears by Eric Coates. Also on the program is a Muppet Medley

McKenna Mase, winner of the annual Student Concerto Competition sponsored by the Danbury Music Centre, will be the featured performer in Kabalevsky’s Piano Concerto No. 3, first movement, with the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. McKenna is 12 years old and was the youngest contender in the Danbury Symphony Orchestra’s annual Concerto Competition which took place in November. McKenna lives in Trumbull and attends Christian Heritage School. She studies piano with Dr. Tomoko Uchino at the Suzuki Music School of Westport.

The Candlewood Children’s Choir, under the direction of Dan Coffman will make a special appearance singing selections from the children’s opera, Hansel and Gretel, as well as Walking on Air from the popular children’s movie and book, The Snowman.


This one-hour concert is free to the public with major funding from Dance Dimensions and a special gift in memory of Jacqueline Bahr.  It is suitable for children of all ages.
