Spirit of Black Rock Fife and Drum Corp and Annual THS Members Meeting

The Spirit of Black Rock Fife and Drum Corp will perform outside the Historical Society on our beautiful grounds in honor of the 150th Anniversary celebration of Connecticut's role in the Civil War.

Formed to honor the spirit of the men from the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, Connecticut who answered the call to duty of the 1st Connecticut Volunteer Cavalry six months after the outbreak of the Civil War. The unit engaged the enemy over 90 times and suffered 56% casualties. The Spirit of Black Rock portrays the field music of the 1st Connecticut Cavalry and consists of reels, jigs, quicksteps, marches and popular music of that era.

Like their group on Facebook! Blankets and picnics welcome! The museum will be open until 4pm so that guests can view our Civil War exhibits and visit the gift shop.

Following the event, we will have a presentation at 2:45 for our members and those looking to join about our organization, along with refreshments and general membership meeting and elections.
