Rt. 111 Trumbull Fitness Edge, Retailers Slated to Open March 2013

The Trumbull Fitness Edge is warming up for a 2013 opening, in addition to two restaurants and an upscale liquor and wine store.

The property is next to the Woodland Hills Condominiums. Property Owner Phil DiGennaro said Biff's Package Store will re-open under new management. He declined to name the restaurants Tuesday, but said he would eventually.

"We're committed to build a commercial center" pleasing to Trumbull, he said. "We're more than happy how the project has been received."

Specifically, the restaurants are the first priority because Trumbull residents asked for new restaurants, he said.

There is still 8,000 square feet of commercial space available, DiGennaro added.

At the groundbreaking ceremony recently, First Selectman Tim Herbst said, "This is a very important step for Trumbull because we are opening a very large new retail center."

Next to Home Depot, which is on the other side of Route 111, it is the first major shopping center to open in Trumbull in 25 years, Herbst added.

It will offset the residential tax burden, according to Herbst.

DiGennaro said he is also involved with the medical center off exit 47 on Park Avenue.
