Parents will once again be able to buy Rugged Bear brand clothing for their children at the store in the in and other select locations, now that TRB Acquisitions, a private equity firm, has resurrected the brand.
According to a report in the Hartford Courant, TRB purchased the rights to Rugged Bear last year, after all Rugged Bear stores were closed following Chapter 7 proceedings. It reportedly plans to re-launch an "updated version” of the upscale brand, initially bringing it to department stores, then establishing new standalone stores starting in 2014, according to a company representative.
According to the report, Rugged Bear clothing will become available at department stores and specialty stores nationwide starting in July.
The brand launched in 1981, according to the report. At its peak Rugged Bear had 29 stores in the New England states and New York, including nine locations in Connecticut.
