You can help on Martin Luther King Day by donating food at a drive at Stop & Shop, benefiting the Trumbull Food Pantry.
The drive runs from through 3 p.m. today (Jan. 20) and was organized by the Trumbull Democratic Town Committee.
Items needed are: Toilet Paper; Paper Towels; Shampoo; Conditioner; Toothpaste; Soap/Body Wash; Laundry Detergent; Juice and Juice Boxes; Canned Fruit; Jelly; Jarred Tomato Sauce; Peanut Butter; Snacks- Crackers, Cookies, Fruit Snacks, etc.; and Tuna.
"In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a 'day on, not a day off,'" according to a press release.
