Good Morning Trumbull

I woke up this morning and the sun was shining with a bird chirping outside my window.  I'll spare you a Trumbull-ized version of the opening number from Hairspray, but suffice it to say that things are good.

Then again, that bird chirping might just be the ringing in my ears from the beating I took last night (and I was hardly alone).  It was a full-scale rout exacerbated by the very sort of party line voting I predicted would be the result of our new charter and redistricting plan.  I had the honor of bringing up the rear in District 1 by a few dozen votes, which doesn't disturb me because I believe my 3 ticket mates are fine people that would each bring tremendous value to the town council.

To the Republicans, good luck - and I mean that sincerely as they will be faced with some major issues in the coming years.  I eagerly anticipate their proposals for solving them.

As for me, I feel great and look forward to the ability to pick and choose where I put my energies for the next two years.  Right now it will be on the fact that my youngest child is preparing to make me a virtual empty-nester when she leaves for college in about 9 months.  Even so, I'll still have plenty of time to offer my opinions, however popular or unpopular they might be, so this is hardly the end of the road.  Whether it will lead to being on another ballot I haven't a clue, but it won't end my involvement - if for no other reason than getting me out of the house to preserve my wife's sanity and my marriage.

Thanks Trumbull.
