Horace"Al" Lawrence, 75

Horace Albert “Al” Lawrence, Jr., age 75, of Shelton entered into rest on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.

He was the devoted husband of 45 years to Beatrice (Gentile) Lawrence. Al was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on September 12, 1938. He was the son of the late Horace Albert Lawrence, Sr. and Katherine (Brown) Lawrence, and was a Shelton resident since 1968.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Al received his Associate Degree in Civil Engineering at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. He was a Civil Engineer for John J. Brennan Construction for many years until his retirement. Al was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed walking, going to the gym daily, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Al is the loving father of David Lawrence and his wife Terri-Ann and Sharon Douglass and her husband Robert. He is the beloved grandfather of Abbey and Ryan Lawrence and John and Sean Douglass.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Thursday, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church. His burial will follow at Lawn Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
