UPDATE: Man Robs Newtown Savings Bank at Gunpoint, Flees in Stolen Car

Trumbull police are looking for witnesses that might have seen the stolen green Honda at the bank or nearby commuter lot.

Trumbull police are looking for an armed robber who stole an unidentified amount of cash from Newtown Savings Bank on White Plains Road Thursday morning.

According to Deputy Chief Michael Harry, a man walked into the bank around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, showed a teller a handgun and demanded cash.

The man left the bank and the fled the scene in a stolen green Honda, which was discovered later in the Park Street commuter lot near Route 25.

“No injuries were reported during the incident,” Harry said, noting that the investigation is “currently in its initial stage and ongoing.”

Police are asking that anyone who saw the green Honda or its occupants at the bank or Park Street commuter lot contact Trumbull detectives at 203-261-3665.

Tips can also be reported anonymously by texting “TRPD” and any information to CRIMES (274637).

Trumbull police are in the field investigating a bank robbery at Newtown Savings Bank Thursday.

According to reports, a man entered the bank on White Plains Road Thursday morning, showed the teller a black gun and demanded money.

The man reportedly fled the scene in a green Saturn. [Police later clarified that the suspect fled in a green Honda.]
