State Sen. Musto Goes Back School

Items of note from around Trumbull.

(Taken from a press release) Fourth graders at Trumbull’s Daniels Farm School received a visit from State Senator Anthony Musto (D-Trumbull) this morning. Students heard from Senator Musto about how he represents their town in the Connecticut General Assembly and what it means to be a Senator. Following a brief talk from the Senator about state government, students were given the opportunity to ask questions about education and other issues they are interested in.

“It was wonderful to have the opportunity to speak with such a bright, inquisitive group of young people and hear how truly interested they are in the way their government works,” said Senator Musto. “Having the opportunity to meet with students and participate in their education is without a doubt one of the highlights of my job.”

Students came well-prepared after having recently spent time studying state and federal government. They were quizzed by Senator Musto on the three branches of government and Connecticut history, and dozens of hands were raised after each question. The children came with their own questions on topics ranging from who gets to vote to how the government spends money on their schools. Throughout the morning the fourth graders were excited and engaged, but a little disappointed when Senator Musto told them there wouldn’t be any bills to let them drive a car before they are old enough to enter high school.
