Trumbull Group Rallies For Return To 7 Districts

Citizens for Balanced Government, a "non-partisan group consisting of Republicans, Democrats, and unaffiliated voters," has renewed an initiative begun last year to restore the seven-district voting model.

The Town Council is still divided into seven districts on the town Website, but the under the Charter is has been changed to a four-district model.

Accoriding to the group, Citizens for a Balanced Government, the changes take effect in the November election. But voters cast ballots in four districts for last year's presidential election.
"More districts means your neighborhood has a greater voice in community affairs. It means that your Council representative is more likely to be accessible to you. It means good government—of the kind that has for decades helped establish Trumbull as the best-run town in the region," the group states.

"Let the public decide for itself whether there should be seven districts. Don’t let some anonymous backroom politicians from yesteryear decide how your town is governed," the group added.
