Trumbull Native Taking Over as Head Tax Collector

Donna Pellitteri has been named as the next Tax Collector for the Town of Trumbull

Trumbull resident Donna Pellitteri has been appointed as the new head of the Tax Collector’s Office, bringing with her a decade of experience in Town Hall and a lifetime in Trumbull.

Pellitteri, currently the Delinquent Tax and Deferral Administrator, will be taking the reins from Tax Collector May Moran, who is set to retire Monday, June 9.

“Over the last four and a half years, I have been incredibly impressed with Donna’s can-do attitude and team approach in the Tax Collector’s office,” First Selectman Timothy Herbst said of her appointment. “Our current tax collector and those that work with Donna on a daily basis respect her commitment to the Town of Trumbull and the professionalism that she shows every day. I know Donna will do an incredible job as our Tax Collector and I am excited to work with her going forward.”

“I offer my sincere thanks to Mary Moran on a job well done and I know Donna has the type of leadership and skill set that will move us forward,” he added.

Pellitteri said she was excited to begin her new assignment as Tax Collector.

“I am honored to follow Mary Moran as Tax Collector for the Town of Trumbull,” she said. “I firmly believe that the role of Tax Collector is a critical position for any municipality. The strength of tax collection and revenue generation is the life blood of any community.”

Pelliteri noted that the office has increased the town’s collection rate for each of the last 4 years.

“I want to continue this positive record of accomplishment with an outstanding staff of people that are truly dedicated to the well being of Trumbull,” she said. “I thank First Selectman Herbst for giving me this opportunity.”

Pellitteri, a native of Trumbull and graduate of Trumbull High School, has been an employee in the Tax Collector’s office since 2004. Pellitteri is a Certified Connecticut Municipal Collector (CCMC), a certification she has held since 2007.

Prior to joining Trumbull, Pellitteri worked in the Collections Department of General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) for 12 years and also served as administrative support in the Fairfield Police Department.

Pellitteri is the proud mother of two adult children, Dana, 28, an associate director at the Berkley College of Music in Boston, and Thomas, 24, who is training to become a police officer.
