THS Color Guard to Compete Jan. 25 in Monroe

Winter is far from sleepy for Trumbull High School's Color Guard.

At the preview Jan. 18 at THS, Guard Director Ray Rhodes presented Trumbull High School's Winter Color Guard programs.

The World Guard and A Guards will be hosting winter guards from throughout Connecticut, New York and New Jersey at Trumbull High School on Saturday, Feb. 8, beginning at 5 p.m.

According to Rhodes, Trumbull High School's Fall and Winter guard programs enjoy a tradition of excellence and recognition on a local and national level. They compete locally in the Musical Arts Conference circuit and have won numerous championship titles, said Valerie Newman, vice president of marketing for the Golden Eagles Marching Band.

They began competing nationally in the Winter Guard International Circuit in 1994. They are currently competing in the Scholastic World Division.

"We've been WGI World Championship finalists for nine of the last ten years, capturing the Bronze medal in 2006. We are the 2013 MAC Scholastic World Class Champions," Rhodes reported.

Their first competition will take place at Masuk High in Monroe on Jan. 25.   For a complete schedule, visit their website at www.trumbullcolorguard.org.
