The public is invited to join members of the Lauralton community in celebrating their inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony, which will recognize seven outstanding individuals who were nominated for performing with distinction or having been instrumental in the overall development and success of athletics at Lauralton Hall, will be held on Sunday, May 6, at Racebrook Country Club in Orange.

The keynote speaker will be renowned Olympic soccer player Kristine Lilly, a three-time Olympian - bringing home a Gold Medal in 1996 and 2004, and a Silver in 2000 - who holds a number of records for scoring, minutes played, and most capped player. She made the U.S. National Team at the age of 16 while a junior at Wilton High School, played in five World Cup events, and was U.S. Soccer Player of the Year in 1993, 2005, and 2006.

2012 Athletic Hall of Fame honorees are Nora Anderson Barber, DDS, ’95; Laura Valade Collins, ’88; Eileen Richetelli Crozier, ’90; Jairus C. Gilbert, Sr. (posthumously); Mary Money, ’76; Margaret A. Rooney, RSM, ’51; and Karen McGroary Yardley. Each of the honorees has made outstanding contributions not only in the field of athletics, but they have distinguished themselves in their careers and in their commitment to community service.

According to Kathleen Donahue, Director of Alumnae Relations and Special Events, “Lauralton believes deeply in the educational value of athletics and has taken a historic step by creating our first Athletic Hall of Fame. It is very exciting that we are now able to formally honor exceptional individuals, teams and coaches who have made amazing contributions to Lauralton’s rich athletic tradition. Having Kristine Lilly as our Keynote Speaker enriches the historic significance of this event.”

The public is invited to the ceremony and brunch, which begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $50 for adults and $35 for students, and reservations must be received by April 24. For more information, please contact Kathleen Donahue at 203-877-2786, ext. 114, or kdonahue@lauraltonhall.org.
