The THSGEMB Winter Season Begins....

Coming Soon to Trumbull High School Winter Guard and Percussion Regionals.....

The winter season of the Trumbull High School Golden Eagles Marching Band (THSGEMB) has begun.  From late November to early April roughly 90 students participate in either Winter Percussion or Winter Guard.  On Saturday, January, 18th, all three groups revealed their shows for the upcoming season in the gym at Trumbull High School. The gym was packed with family, friends and supporters of the Winter Guard and Winter Percussion programs.  All were treated to a display of talent and enthusiasm by our Trumbull High School students.

The Winter Percussion is performing a piece titled Mirage, a Box 6 production and was arranged by John Mapes and Ian Grom.that is arranged by John Mapes and Ian Grom. It tells the story of a man being lost in the unforgiving desert on a search for water. Winter Percussion is made up of the two parts, the battery and the front ensemble; and all 30 of the students involved in this year’s fast-paced, pulse-beating production are energetic, upbeat and infectious to the audience watching them.  The running swirl of the drum line and the steady rhythm of the front ensemble made for a heart pounding show that rarely let up.

There are two groups in the 2014 Winter Color Guard; A Guard and World Guard.  A Guard is performing a piece called Pure Imagination, which involves dancing, throwing rifles and sabers, and twirling flags to tell the story with dramatic flair others come to expect from the Trumbull Color Guard.  Meanwhile, the World Guard’s performance of One Winter is a beautiful production on a unique setting. Set to the music from The Impossible soundtrack by Fernando Velasquez, their floor represents an envelope that holds paper snowflakes soon to be set free. The guard’s fluttering flags become the snowflakes and the audience becomes lost in a storm of emotion and dance.

All three groups will be performing at various competitions on a weekly basis starting late January or late February, depending on the group. Information on dates and times of competitions for the Winter Guard can be found on their website at http://www.trumbullcolorguard.org/.
